Friend Fun!

This week was a fun week with friends!

We made some new Denver friends, Luke & Holley.  They moved here last year from Arkansas/Memphis to begin Luke's internal medicine residency with their baby girl, Caroline. They had Caroline around the same time we had Lincoln, so they know what it's like to move with an infant and to try to meet people as parents. No wonder we're friends...we're living parallel lives!  I'm really grateful for her and have already picked her brain about so many mommy things.

Her encouragement has helped me be more adventurous with Lincoln in Colorado.  In fact, after the first time we hung out, I tried Lincoln in the pool after she shared some tips with me from Caroline's first swim. We were finally able to have dinner together this week (the guys hadn't met) and it was neat to see them hit it off.  I love how sports can really bond guys together.  We're hoping the stars will align more often with their schedules so that we don't have to wait months before the next hang out. At least we get it though...balancing resident schedules is bonkers.
Caroline is so into babies! She's adorable and wanted to help and hug Lincoln the whole night.  If she couldn't have Lincoln, she'd practice with her own baby doll.  She especially liked strapping her into the car seat.  Already a blooming mommy, she was very concerned when the 5 point harness was not working correctly!

TRACY!
My former college roommate & best friend, Tracy, came for a visit over the weekend.  It was so great to see her and to do some exploring together.  She joked that we keep moving to places she's never visited and that we are giving her a great excuse to travel. Tracy met Lincoln for the first time.  It was fun to see them together but when we would drive and he was quiet in the back seat, it was easy to think we were back in college just hanging out. It's fun to watch one another mature and sometimes it's easy to forget that we're real adults now....well most of the time

We went on a hike at Chautauqua park in Boulder, CO.  It was beautiful but kicked my butt! Granted, I did have a 15lb baby on my back but I was embarrassed at the amount of breaks I had to take and the lack of air in my lungs. It was especially embarrassing because we passed many people with no signs of fatigue in flip flops and non-hiking gear.  I'll become a Colorado native yet!

Lincoln was so happy in his hiking backpack...probably because he could hear me breathing so heavily

Tracy's visit was short but sweet. It's a very special friend to just be able to catch up right where you left off. Hopefully one day we're not so far away...one can only hope!

Lincoln Update: 4 months, 3 weeks old
  • You are almost sitting up by yourself! Getting close to official ab muscles
  • You are really interested in your toes, it's like you got a new toy!

  • Everything still goes into your mouth and you're getting faster at putting things in there! I almost can't have you on my lap when I'm eating anymore because you grab at my food so quickly!
  • You LOVE outside now and calm down immediately.  You are watching other kids play outside and paying attention to everything. The sun doesn't bother you as much and you love the sunshine.
The baby bjorn still does the trick, especially when you're fighting a nap or when you're in "monster mode."  Sometimes we just do laps around the apartment so I guess I'm getting a work out some how!

First time on a swing, I think he likes i
  • You are turning into SUCH a big flirt. I think you understand that big smiles get you more attention so now you give them away freely! I love to see that gummy cheesy grin.

Here are some photos for the week!
  • I love this man more and more everyday! I am proud of all the hard work he's putting in for residency!
    The Hemerkas!
